Last Supper

One of my favorite painting by Leonardo Da Vinci is "Last supper" which portraits Jesus last supper with his twelve Apostles before his death. The reference of Last Supper is to take the bread and the wine, Jesus told his disciples, "Do this in remembrance of me" and the vessel which was used to serve the wine is sometimes called the holy chalice. Jesus divided up some bread and hands the pieces to his disciples, saying this is my body. Then he took a cup of wine, known as the Holy Grail and hands it around, saying this is my blood of the everlasting 'covenant', which is poured for many. According to the Canonical Gospels, during the meal, Jesus revealed that one of his Apostles would betray him, everyone denied but Jesus told them it would be one of those who were present.

I find this painting very interesting because they are so many hidden secrets and enigmas. The say that intead of John, was Mary Magdalene who was there, there is a theory that Jesus was married to her.
Also theres a hand with a dager, which doesnt seem to corespond to anyone in the picture, studys lately assume it was Peter's right hand. The dager is pointing to Bartholomew, who was execute for being exposed.

Here is a zoom picture where you can see the image better.
I have seen the movie " The Da Vinci code", its good movie, but theres so much discussion about religion on it, they say Leonardo might have been the leader of a secret society of the holy grail. The movie is all about trying to find the puzzle and finding them in Da vinci's painting.

To me, the Jesus in the painting was so lonely, because you can see that everyone is trying to get away from him. Strange!!! Well, that's my opinion. :)

Patricia,
nice post on the last supper. You can see that people analyze and analyze and ultimately there is no definite answer. I like how this relates to the quote by Van gogh which you posted. I really like the work you have done lately- it is as if you woke up. Nice.
